Jeremy Duininck: Stewarding in a Multi-Generational Family Organization

Episode Summary

Do you know what it means to create a culture by design in your multi-generational organization? In this episode, Jeff, Jeff, and Jeremy discuss: Growing up in a faith-rooted, family-filled environment. Learning from previous generations in a multi-generational family company. Leading a company - family-owned, board-governed, professionally managed. Creating culture by design, not just by default. Key Takeaways: In a family organization, it can be beneficial for younger generations to work for outside companies, learn and grow, and bring back positive influences and lessons from those companies. Even when things get hard in your business, do right by your relationships, care for others, and deal honestly in all situations. If you hire right and build the right team, you will not always be needed to run the company. Look at how you might be able to make a greater impact than just running the day-to-day operations. When it comes to giving, be open and just try something. It is possible to keep people engaged, but you never know what people are going to resonate with. "You can have a process for things and you should when we have so many family members involved, but you also want to have the freedom to be able to answer the call when you feel the Lord is calling. As a family, we’re all in on this together." — Jeremy Duininck Episode References: Triune Leadership Services - https://triuneleadershipservices.com/ The Master’s Program - https://priorityliving.org/tmp/ Jack’s Basket - https://jacksbasket.org/ About Jeremy Duininck: Jeremy is a third-generation family member in Duininck Companies, a multi-generational family of companies in construction and plastics manufacturing serving the markets of construction and materials as well as the water management industry.
