Generous Business Owner

Coralyn Musser and John Romnes: Passionately Caring for People

Episode Summary

Do you want to increase your investment in people and in eternity? In this episode, Jeff, Coralyn, and John discuss: Allowing God to guide your niche and your business. Trusting God through the ups and downs of business as you live by His principles. Why you should take mission trips as a business. Doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do. Key Takeaways: The struggle can happen at any time, not only during startup. If you treat people well, using Biblical principles, even in a capitalistic society, it is good for your business. Be honest, treat people well, and trust in God. Give generously and live with compassion without an agenda behind it. Look for ways to have a ripple effect. Start small with 1 person, 1%, or 1 cause and grow as you can. Don’t be afraid to take a righteous risk with faith and just start. "Compassion and generosity have to become a part of your character. It can’t just be a tool in your toolbox." — John Romnes About Coralyn Musser: Coralyn Musser is the Director of Outreach & Engagement at MEI Total Elevator Solutions, where she leads company-wide culture, philanthropy, and employee engagement efforts. In this role, she designs and executes volunteer programs, community partnerships, and employee education initiatives that embed compassion and generosity into the day-to-day rhythm of the business. Through our signature Learn. Give. Do. framework, Coralyn helps translate values into action—educating teams around meaningful causes, empowering generosity, and activating hands-on service. Her leadership at MEI has driven measurable growth in employee participation, nonprofit impact, and cultural alignment across the organization. She also holds an MBA, sits on the board of MY Place (an area youth organization), is a TEDx Speaker, and is a podcast host. About John Romnes: In 1969, John W. Romnes stood to his feet at a Billy Graham Crusade to give his life to the Lord. The founder of Minnesota Elevator, Inc. (MEI), John, began the venture hoping to raise his family “in the country” and earn a living in the trade he had learned. From those small beginnings, MEI grew to some 300 employees who engineer, manufacture, install, and service passenger and freight elevators. Additionally, the company is involved in many charitable outreach efforts, employing a full-time “Director of Outreach and Engagement.” Blessed with God’s favor, MEI is thriving today with a strong leadership team that includes John’s sons, Ron and Steve, who also work for the company. John and his wife, Roxie, continue to enjoy an extensive international travel itinerary, mostly related to Christian mission work. They have nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
